| The main trubutary of the
lake of Iseo is the river Oglio.
Its waters come down from the Val Camonica,
enter the basin to the north, between Lovere and
Pisogne, and flow out vicinity of Sarnico.
The lake is sited at 185 m. above sea level, has a perimeter of
approximately 60 kilometres. The largest of Italy's lacustrine islands,
Montisola, its slopes vested in typically Medirettanean
vegetation, rises out of the central area of the lake and reaches
a height of 600 m. above sea level. There is an incomparable panorama
to be enjoyed from its summit. Montisola is flanked
by two tiny isles, each with a splendid villa fringed with gardens,
Loreto to the north and San Paolo
to the south. |
